This Truck Rear Axle - Sectional view is provided to give a glimpse of how the load carrying ability and components are utilized in heavy duty truck applications. A Torque arm is a forged metal attached between drive axle and vehicle frame or chassis. Torque arms prevent axle rotation. Torque arms prevents the wheel from trying to rotate the axle with respect to the vehicle chassis, when heavy acceleration is applied or when heavy braking force is applied. A walking beam is also used which is a forged oscillating lever pivoting on one central axis and uses internal cam technology which helps it to transmit force applied linearly in 2 directions.
